In some countries you can request a custom phone number for sending SMSs. This will provide you with your own dedicated phone number for SMSs and also enable you to receive SMSs from your customers and view their messages in your CleanCloud Inbox. You can also see these messages in the customer CRM under the “Messages” tab. In this “Messages” tab you can view your conversation history with the customer and continue to interact with them via SMS and even email if you would like.
Costs
One time activation fee - $50/£50/€50
If you are on a monthly subscription, you will also need to pay a fee of $5/£5/€5 per month. If you are on a annual subscription, then a fee of $50/£50/€50 per year will apply.
How it works
You will still have to pay for SMS credits in CleanCloud as the additional cost only covers the rental of the phone number. Once you have contacted CleanCloud support it will take up to 7 days for us to purchase your number and assign it to your account. If you would like a custom phone number contact CleanCloud support and inform them which area code (e.g. 305) you need. We are not able to purchase exact numbers, and can only purchase what is available at the time.
Why is a custom phone number a good idea?
A good example of how this could benefit your business is when you send an order notification to a customer via SMS through CleanCloud and they try to respond to you to let you know that they cannot pick up their order this week. This feature therefore allows your customers to respond to these notifications and any SMSs you send through CleanCloud which means that you don’t miss any messages from your customers. This feature is also highly recommended if you wish to have customers confirm repeat pickup requests by SMS.
Next steps if you have a custom phone number
Once your custom phone number has been set up, you can go to Settings > Admin > Notifications > Show New Message Notifications. From here you can choose where those SMSs from your customers appear. For example, if it is generally staff at ‘Station 1’ which would address SMSs from your customers, then you can make SMSs from your customers be only visible to staff at that station. You can however select all stations if it doesn’t matter to you which station receives those SMSs.
Then, just below that option, you will see that it says “ Show New Message Notification For”. Here you can establish for how long the SMSs from your customers appear on your screen for. I would however recommend that you set this to “Until Dismissed” so that the SMS appears on your screen until somebody clicks on it which is a great way of acknowledging that you have received the message and therefore can address it as soon as possible.
Please note:
- The phone number cannot be assigned to a physical phone. It is strictly a number that is tied to your CleanCloud account.
- Custom phone numbers are only available in certain countries, please check with our support team.
